No matter how much I try to fight it, these Thursday night football match-ups continue to catch-up with me week-in and week-out! Well, here we are again with another "pre-weekend" game, this time with the Buffalo Bills traveling to Cleveland to take on the "1st Place" Browns. Yep, you read that right! Technically, the 2-2 Browns are in 2nd Place behind 2-2 Baltimore (who beat the Browns in Week 2), and ahead of 2-2 Cincy (who lost to Cleveland last week), but still, the records are all the same at the top of the AFC North, so I look at it as "1st Place"! Buffalo, meanwhile, also sits at 2-2 on the season, and the Bills are coming off a big win over those same Baltimore Ravens that bested the Browns a few wees back, so tonight's match-up definitely has some interesting plot lines. The only plot lines that you should be concerned about (save for those of you who are actually fans of these two teams) are the Fantasy Football implications of this game. So, before I break-off into my recommendations for this weekend's games, I wanted to do a quick "Start 'Em / Sit 'Em" breakdown for tonight. Let's get to it!
Thursday Night Start 'Em:
Brian Hoyer (QB - CLE) - Peyton who?? Riiiiiight... Hoyer is definitely not Peyton Manning, but he has been very good in his two starts this season. He has averaged 295 yards across those starts along with 5 TD's, but he also had 3 INT in his first game. Now, I wouldn't necessarily put Hoyer into your lineups over your 1st Stringer (unless their names are "Roethlisberger" or "Robert Griffin III"), but if you were able to snag Hoyer off the waiver wire in a 2 QB league, I wouldn't be against using him, as he does have a fairly juicy match-up tonight.
Jordan Cameron (TE - CLE) - At this point, Cameron is pretty much an "automatic start" at tight end, but I wanted to highlight him here since the match-up is actually not in his favor tonight. Buffalo ranks 8th against opposing tight ends, keeping them below 100-yards receiving and by allowing only 1 TD in their first four games. That being said, the Bills D/ST has yet to face a TE of Cameron's caliber in those four games, and I expect him to continue his torrid pace as the second-leading scorer at the position.
Thursday Night Sit 'Em:
Fred Jackson & C.J. Spiller (RB - BUF) - Spiller is listed as "Questionable" for tonight's game, and will most likely be a game-time decision, so to me, he's a fairly obvious "Sit 'Em" candidate. Jackson, however, is now listed as "Probable", even though he's dealing with his own knee injury woes. The Cleveland D/ST has only allowed 3 RuTD this season, and has yet to allow any opponent to have a 100-yard rushing game, so I'm steering clear of the bruised and battered Buffalo rushing attack this week.
